3. The Motorleague Reveal Music Video for 'You Wear me Down'
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Moncton, NB) - New Brunswick’s THE MOTORLEAGUE have officially released their latest music video for their single ‘You Wear Me Down’ from their album ‘Black Noise’ (2009 – Forward Music Group) which won the 2010 East Coast Music Award for ‘Loud Recording of the Year’. The Video was filmed and directed by The Postman who also handled the band's last music video ‘Hymn for the Newly Departed’ which also took home a 2010 ECMA for ‘Fan Choice Video of the Year’."Working with the crew from The Postman was another amazing experience. Seeing our rough ideas turn into a full fledged video and even expanding on our concepts and turning them into their own was great." Commented Guitar player Nathan Jones "We even had a chance to throw a little shout out to one of our favorite canadian bands in the last 7 secs of the video."
Don't forget to vote for 'You Wear Me Down' on Punk Radio Cast's top 40 countdown found here.
The Motorleague is the antithesis of everything that's wrong with rock music - in one convenient, self aware, downward spiraling mess. In a generation of music plagued by marketing plans, myspaces, and hairdye The Motorleague are of the last of the true rock bands.
Formed in mid 2006 from the remains of some of Moncton's mainstay bands (The Ditchpigs, Cohesive, The Monoxides and IC/TC) The Motorleague have been running hot since inception. The 'League marries narcotic guitar lines with songs that could only be derived from years of betrayal, rejection and failure - and the result is some of the most honest - thought provoking rock / borderline punk rock around.
Don Levandier :: Guitar & Vocals
Nathan Jones :: Guitar & Vocals
Ryan McDonald :: Drums & Vocals
Matt Young :: Bass & Vocals
Two weeks prior the band decided to reward twenty of their most devoted fans by giving them an exclusive sneak peak at the video
‘You Wear Me Down’.
Here is what they had to say:
It's Office Space Meets Greenday when they didn't suck.
-Adam from Halifax
LOVE this song and LOVE the vid guys!! Great job!!
-Jaymie From St.John’s
The visual style and instantly catchy song definitely makes it one of those videos you never get tired of seeing.
-Ryan From Moncton
Fantastic, guys and gals. I like the twist at the end. And the song will stick in my head for a while
The twist at the end was hilarious - It made me think of the videos bands like The Verve would put out, simple and deadly!
- Jamie from Corner Brook

ArtLink NB Biography Pages
Creating New Brunswick Arts Messages for the Election:
A study by ACOA in 2005 identified that 10,614 people worked in the arts and culture industry in New Brunswick. However, the average artist, (painter, musician, dancer, writer, film-maker...) earns an average of $16,543 annually, the 2nd lowest rate in Canada. An average New Brunswicker earns nearly twice that figure. We have a strong industry with poorly paid workers. What will we do?
ArtsLink NB is preparing for the provincial election this September, beginning with the collection of input from members like you, provincial organizations and municipal arts boards. What is the Arts Issue that you wish to see on the table for discussion this coming election? Send us your ideas for new programs, solutions, and dreams like:
- Remove "business tax" on home art studios;
- Increase provincial funding to the Arts Development Branch by $ X,000,000;
- Re-introduce visual art to the daily program in elementary schools;
- Develop an NB Book Purchasing Policy;
- Increase Travel and Production Grants for NB professional artists;
- Increase assistance for development of Creative Exports Marketing;
- ________________________________
Your ideas (and back-ground data sources) will help ArtsLink NB create a set of Arts Messages for discussion with politicians during the upcoming election campaign. We will seek an arts champion to initiate arts discussions in every riding. Tell us if you want to get involved with this initiative!
With this initiative, ArtsLink will ask for involvement and input from the province's major arts organizations: Music NB, l'AAAPNB, the Crafts Council, The NB Film Co-op...and more! Working together, we can begin to deliver a strategic arts message from many platforms to many ears.
Events:
Summit of the Arts:
ArtsLink NB Member's Forum and Annual General Meeting
Note this date in your calendar: September 11/12th
ArtsLink NB will invite all members and organizations to participate in the 1st ArtsLink NB Member's Forum and Annual General Meeting. At this event, we will present a keynote speaker and host a series of facilitated discussions, where you will get an opportunity to talk to other artists and organizers from your discipline from around the province. Then, at a general session, we will bring all participants together to share our ideas, problems and solutions for the issues. This is a major first step to create a unified approach to the arts in this sector.
Stay tuned for more details, and mark this date on your events calendar!
