CBMIC Announces Second Showcase During ECMA 2010

(Sydney, NS) - The Cape Breton Music Industry Cooperative is pleased to present an eclectic evening of Cape Breton Music this Saturday, March 6th at 9pm at The Crown and Moose Pub.  A follow up to what will prove to be a rollicking Hometown Throwdown on Thursday at Smooth Herman's, CBMIC will present a second showcase of new and exciting multi-genre performers including Andrea BeatonCarleton Stone Drives the Big Wheel and Steven Fifield.

While a staple in the Sydney music scene, Steven Fifield is a realtively new songwriting presence in Atlantic Canada.  A studied guit-picker, Fife's delta blues heavy thumb holds its own alongside Merle Travis without flinching. In Sydney Fife shows off his versatility jumping from subdued songwriters' circles to rockin' brouhahas with The Tom Fun Orchestra. Writing the map of Sydney tune by tune, street by street, Steve testifies to the character of a town long denied her own loyal, dutiful poet.

With unbridled ambitions matched only by unprecedented success, Carleton Stone Drives the Big Wheel pulls in hot off their recent Rock Recording of the year nomination.  With a growing following of live music fans and keenly interested songwriters, Carleton Stone is fast becoming a musical force to be reckoned with.

Coming off a nomination for Instrumental Recording of the Year, ECMA Award hopeful Andrea Beaton joins the show with a remarkably original celtic sound.  Cut from an revered Cape Breton musical cloth, Beaton has made a name for herself as a new generation of tune maker in dance halls, kitchen parties and festivals.

CBMIC is a not-for-profit organization supporting members of the Cape Breton music industry. CBMIC provides training, information and resources to help music industry professionals in Cape Breton establish themselves and to succeed in music business. For more information please visit cbmic.ca.
