ECMA 2009 Conference
'A New World' in the Business of Music

Schedule Now Available On-line ecma.ca

(Corner Brook NL) - The East Coast Music Association is thrilled to bring some of the best and brightest from the national and international music business community to ECMA 2009 in Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador for four days of seminars, forums, master classes, showcases and meetings as part of the 2009 East Coast Music Awards, Festival and Conference, from February 26th - March 1st.

The ECMA 2009 Conference and International Program has much to offer artists, managers and businesses looking for key business development opportunities within the music industry.  Led by a star studded line-up of national and international panelists and guest speakers, the 2009 Conference will feature a diverse range of professional development sessions, including Export Training Workshops, Show & Tell 5 - Minute Pitch Sessions, Live Performance Coaching Sessions and a Keynote Address by Canadian music industry icon, Terry McBride.

Conference highlights include an excellent array of seminars and workshops covering a broad range of topics, from Cyber PR, to Digital Distribution, DIY, and the popular Music Managers Forum. Songwriting will be a large focus of the conference as an entire day is dedicated to composing for film and television; co-writing songs; accessing Music City - Nashville and publishing and song plugging. This is an amazing opportunity for songwriters to hone their craft and connect with some of the movers and shakers in the business.

The 2009 International Program will see talent buyers from the United States, Europe and Australia meet face to face with export-ready artists and companies in international One-on-One business meetings.  Featured sessions include a Case Study on Australia, US Immigration & Beyond, International Touring and working in foreign markets.

The "Show and Tell 5-Minute Pitch "is a new opportunity to access international and national buyers at ECMA, said Shelley Nordstrom, Export Manager.  These pre-scheduled, 5-minute, live performance pitching sessions are designed for export-ready artists to present and showcase their music to an exclusive audience of industry buyers.
Paired with the international One-on-One Business meetings, the 'Pitch' session offers unprecedented access to industry buyers".

Tom Jackson, President of Tom Jackson Productions, is back and once again will bring his Live Performance Coaching Workshop to the ECMA Conference. In front of a live audience, Jackson will critique on-stage with East Coast artists, coaching on performance techniques and best ways to connect with audiences.  This is a world class opportunity to work with Jackson or see him in action.

ECMA and the Atlantic Film Festival partnership program, Music & Image will bring together buyers and supervisors from the film and television industry to explore opportunities for today's musician in the new global marketplace. Music & Image and the Guild of Canadian Film Composers are pleased to present a composing master class designed to expose Atlantic Canadian composers to the realities of creating music for film and television.

A complete list of ECMA 2009 conference events, including times, dates and locations, can be found at www.ecma.com.

The 2009 East Coast Music Awards, Festival & Conference has received financial support from the Government of Canada through ACOA and Service Canada, Province of Newfoundland and Labrador through the Department of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, and the City of Corner Brook.  The East Coast Music Association would also like to acknowledge the financial support of FACTOR and the Government of Canada through the Department of Canadian Heritage (Canada Music Fund) and of Canada's private radio broadcasters.
